Lex Arx, LLC is a specialized law firm which focuses on assets, their use and protection. The following are areas of law in which we particularly focus:
Real Estate Law
Attorney Paul R. Maxfield is passionate about real estate. When it comes to real estate, he has been a landlord, tenant, homeowner, investor, and consultant. Lex Arx currently assists people with evictions, landlord tenant disputes, title research, deeds, trust deeds, purchase agreements, leases, and real estate litigation. Most importantly, we can help you protect your real estate investments. When you want an attorney who knows real estate from your perspective, call Lex Arx, LLC.
As a law office we are frequently asked to review, draft (write), and negotiate contracts. You might be surprised how little it costs to get your contracts done right, but that small price could save you thousands later. Have you a question about your contracts?
In Business Law, you will find many areas where you can get help. The primary component of business law is the contract. Well written agreements will save you time and again. Another important component of business law is proper business formation. Anyone can go online and file for an LLC, but using only the state online system, you will still be missing very important documents for operating your company. We can also help you file a UCC-1 to secure the debts your customers have with you.
Estate Planning (Wills and Trusts)
“Estate Planning” is the impressive attorney term for a combination of wills and trusts with the supporting paperwork to make these tools work. Nearly everyone needs a will, or at least their heirs do, and so do their young children. If you are a parent or guardian of a young child, do you know what who will care for them if something were to happen to you? Get a will. Everyone should also have their health care directives completed. Health care directives, also called a living will, is inexpensive and tells your doctors what your preferences are with various life saving or prolonging measures. Trusts help you to move your assets into positions to benefit you and/or your heirs in creative ways to which the law does not automatically default, such as time payments to your children, etc.
Protecting Your Assets
At Lex Arx, LLC we feel that an ounce of prevention really is worth a pound of cure. By small and simple means, great protections can be created. One of the little used, but valuable tools given to us by our legislature is a tool called a declaration of homestead exemption. This declaration protects your equity in your home by up to $40,000. (Some details apply). Many of the wealthy also believe in the phrase “Control everything, own nothing.” Trusts, business entities and even mortgages are used to accomplish these tasks. Chances are you own something that you would like to protect. Call us to find out how.
